Perpetrators of Domestic Violence often use weapons to intimidate their victims. In most states, anyone convicted of domestic violence must surrender their firearms and are no longer allowed to own them. However, in Tennesse there is a loophole! It is one of the only states that does not require proof of weapons surrender to be submitted.

Considering the fact that Tennesse ranks fifth in the United States for the number of women killed by an intimate partner Genereal Sessions Judge Allegra Walker has raised concerns over the lax dispossession of weapons regulations. Judge Walker is pushing lawmakers to introduce compliance hearings where the defendant would have to return to court with a third party and confirm that their weapons had been surrendered to the third party who would also confirm having taken possession.
