The Tennessee Court of Appeals in Knoxville upheld a judgment against Johnson City regarding a vehicle accident that injured a 78-year-old woman in April 2017.
Johnson City's attorney Erick Herrin argued that it was not reasonable to use non-discounted medical bills to calculate the $256,324 settlement as these do not reflect what the patient actually pays.
A city employee lost control of a Tractor on April 6, 2017, and struck the vehicle carrying the plaintiff, Theresa Doty resulting in a shoulder injury requiring surgery.
