What is Birth Trauma?

When we think about birth injury our thoughts often turn immediately to the newborn infant. But what about the mother? Distress during childbirth can result in Birth Trauma which has lasting effects for either parent. It could be that the baby or mother was at risk during the birth resulting in emotional, psychological or even physical trauma. In cases where this was a direct result of medical negligence during childbirth there could be grounds for a lawsuit.
